Getting to and from school safely

As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.

Keep our school community safe by:

  • driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
  • being a good role model
  • never calling your child from across the road
  • using the safest place to cross the road.

Travel options to and from WPHS

School and public bus

Bus routes 526 and 533 service the area from residential areas including Newington and Sydney Olympic Park. All services stop on Footbridge Boulevard outside of Marina Square shopping centre, just 250m walk from the school.

The Baylink Shuttle provides a free express service running every 8 minutes between Rhodes Station and Wentworth Point.

Trains I Ferries

The nearest train station is Rhodes. Connection with the school is via bus route 533 or walking approximately 20 mins {1.4km) over Bennelong Bridge.

Ferry services along the Paramatta river link to Wentworth Point at the Sydney Olympic Park Wharf.

Car

Access to Wentworth Point High School via car is constrained due to Burroway Road being a no through road. Whilst staggered bell times between the primary and high school will assist with spreading student arrival and departure times, we encourage accessing the school via public transport, walking and cycling to prevent congestion on Burroway Road and maintain a safe road frontage.

If the only option is to drive your child to school, it is recommeded to avoid Burroway Road and drop your child at another point within walking distance of the school. We recommend agreeing a clear plan with your child about where you will collect them, including which side of the road they shou Id expect you on.

It is also important that students are aware of the safest walking route to school, as demonstrated in this Travel Access Guide.
